Sloan DSS M stars in the Milky Way
One-billion-year star orbits
A new update for the Digital Universe is available along with a new Digital Universe Guide.
This update includes new data sets and updates to existing data sets. The latest additions include 1 million Sloan M stars in the Milky Way (pictured, top left), a new open cluster catalog, a catalog of over 7,000 nearby stars within 100 light-years of the Sun, and seven, one-billion-year star orbits around the Galaxy (pictured, bottom left).
Updated data sets include extrasolar planets, which now number 256 in 219 systems, the L and T dwarf stars, and the addition of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data release 6 galaxies and quasars. We also include an enhanced 2MASS galaxy catalog, which now has over 35,000 labels and can be culled by redshift source.
